NOTICE OF MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF ALGONA MUNICIPAL UTILITIES OF THE CITY OF ALGONA, IOWA, TO REVIEW AN APPLICATION FOR A STATE REVOLVING FUND (SRF) LOAN AND TO MAKE AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC THE CONTENTS OF AN ENVIRONMENTAL INFORMATION DOCUMENT AND THE ALGONA MUNICIPAL UTILITIES’ PROJECT PLAN
PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that the Board of Trustees of Algona Municipal Utilities of the City of Algona, Iowa, will hold a public hearing on the 26th day of April, 2023, at 11 o'clock A.M. at the Algona Municipal Utilities Building, 104 W. Call Street, Algona, Iowa, at which meeting the Board will review an application for a State Revolving Fund (SRF) loan and make available to the public the contents of an environmental information document and the Algona Municipal Utilities’ project plan.
The proposed project includes the installation of approximately 9,163 feet of 8-inch & 12-inch water main pipe along Highway 18/220th Street and 100th Avenue. Planned work is within IDOT right-of-way and some privately-owned land. The water main installation project will utilize open cut installation (approximately 9,026ft) and trenchless installation (approximately 137ft) at an average depth of 6.5 feet. Estimated trench work is approximately 12-15ft wide and 8ft depth.
The purpose of this Public Hearing is to inform area residents of the community of Algona of this proposed action, discuss the actual cost and user fees associated with this project, and to address citizen’s concerns, if any, with the plan.
All interested persons are encouraged to attend this hearing. Written comments on this proposal may also be submitted prior to the hearing at the office address listed above. This notice is given by order of the Board of Trustees of Algona Municipal Utilities of the City of Algona, Iowa, as provided by Section 390.3 of the Code of Iowa, as amended.
