Algona Municipal Utilities is a proud supporter of the Change the light, Change the World program, sponsored Energy Star®. From October 1 through December 15, 2008, participating Iowa electric utilities helped residents make the simple switch to energy-efficient lighting by offering $2 instant cash-back rebates on Energy Star® qualified Compact Fluorescent Light Bulb (CFL) purchases of 12 bulbs or less. With the instant rebates the bulbs sold for as little as $0.99 at selected Ace Hardware, Bomgaars, Do It Best, Hardware Hank, Hy-Vee, Fareway, Menards, Mills Fleet Farm, Shopper's Supply, Theisens, and True Value Hardware locations.
